After living in Kyoto for quite some time, I should not have underestimated typhoons at all. Typhoon Dolphin absolutely ripped through Shanghai, and just decimated my entire day (and the majority of the Shanghai leg).  Essentially all I did this day was going to mass and the Shanghai East Museum. The rain poured so much that Sunday Service had to be moved to a more waterproof space. They must have Noah a guy who saw it coming! 😂 Here was my Xiaolongbao breakfast!  After church and breakfast, we were trying to go to the Shanghai Museum, but when we go there: 1. It was pouring 2. Needed a prior registration. I was pretty infuriated because online and the website said, "Any day Free Entry". The tickets were $36 each! I might as well be going to the MoMa, eh! We quickly bounced and tried going to another museum within the area, but our taxi driver drove up to the street, and it was shutdown due to the flood, so he took us back to the hotel. I knew it was going to rain, and a typhoon was approaching in China, but I did not expect the conditions would be this bad! A few days before China, I headed back to Tokyo from Kyoto to drop off my some stuff at my aunt's, and I purposely left my *Gore-Tex* Waterproof shoes because my thought process was "August is hot, it's not going to rain." I should have learned not to trust myself and gut after my Circuits exams! 🤣 Continuing on, back at the hotel, I took a shower and had to run another load of laundry for my pants because those are essential. Drenched and soaked is an understatement of my condition. It was unbelievable. I was infuriated by the weather, but it was out of my control! China actually cares about its people because they halted food delivery. When the weather is abysmal at UCSD, a lot of my colleagues and I like to order UBEREats or Doordash and make a poor deliveryman suffer for our hunger. It's very messed up, but we are college students at the end of the day 🤣.  I am pretty sure the robot would be suffering if I ordered delivery, but then again someone has to deliver food to the robot. We were up in the hotel room for a solid couple of hours because there was no break in the rain at all. My VPN on my MacBook failed too, so I could not even get connected to YouTube, and watch *Family Guy*. 🥲 There was eventually a break in the rain, and we just booked it to Shanghai Museum East because that was one-of-the-only museums that remained opened during Typhoon Dolphin. I have no clue how they name typhoons and their naming conventions 🤨. Surprisingly all metro lines were running and commuting was seamless. That is just Chinese and Asian engineering I guess!   I am no position to commentate on these artifacts, so a lot of these photos do not have captions, but the exhibitions were very well put together. The museum did in fact have more Terracotta sculptures!      I really wish I booked a Xi'an leg on this trip, but there's always a next time! Maybe I can go with family too! They had the window to this room open:  You can really see the inner-workings of how these historians and archeologist dissect artifacts and study them!  The rooftop of the museum was closed due to the typhoon, so we decided to leave. Right when we stepped out of the museum, we got hit with an immediate sudden downpour. Fortunately we were able to get to the station before we got drenched again! The station had a fake market too, and they had already produced a LeBron James Philadelphia 76ers Jersey.  I unfortunately could not get the vendor to bargain down to a reasonable price, and did not buy 😔. I did however get two pairs of AirPod Pro Maxes and AirPod Pros for about a $100 total. Absolute steal! I could have bargained the price to be $20 cheaper, but I was not too bitter about it. After the market that was pretty much it for the day. It was way too wet and flooded to do anything else. 🥲
