おは異様ございます!
I hope everyone had a good week and weekend. There's a surprise on the home screen or right here:
I had another eventful week last week, I am having a little too much fun here. Having fun is a great thing, but I have to remind myself that I am here to study after all. I am still getting used to the transition back to the semester system. The biggest misconception I have is thinking I have more time than I actually which leads me to be more spontaneous and procrastinate on assignments. There was a close call on Monday where I submitted my Japanese homework at 11:51 PM. My grades at Kyoto University do not count towards my UC GPA, but I need to be respectful towards the institution and not show that I am a typical American degenerate. I know I am a degenerate, but I like to think of myself as a presentable, respectful degenerate.
Today marks one month of living in Japan, and I still have jet lag. I did not have jet lag at first, but after a few midnight practices, my body adjusted right back to California time. With an inconsistent practice schedule, it is pretty difficult to start and maintain a routine. There are days, where I wake up early at 7 AM, and then there are times, where I wake up at 10 AM, and I find it impossible to get out of bed. When I went through this before, it was just burn out and depression, but now it is just my body signaling my mind to rest. What I miss the most about home is the weather. Kyoto weather is nice, but it is so inconsistent. One day it will be hot then the next it would be pouring. I am not stressing about the weather that much because I know once June hits, the heat is going to be insufferable.
I am so glad that I started self studying the next circuit analysis course because if I did not see or review any of the material, I would be screwed for the Fall. Going through the first lecture, I was scratching my head and surprised about how many formulas and equations I forgot. The content of the course will get easier with time and persistence, I just need to keep on working. Time trips me up. I am conflicted with the perception and essence of it. For a while now, I have been in between the "there is no tomorrow" and "tomorrow is a new day" mindset. Now that I am abroad, I definitely noticed a switch to where I am practicing "active wait," being more present and trusting the work I put in. It is such a cliché to say, but when you travel you learn that the world is so big and vast, but yet so small. Anxiety naturally disappears and cortisol goes to an all-time low, and you are just living.
I am going to wrap Week 2 here. It is late in Japan right now, I just got back from the Amanohashidate and Ine today, and I am happily tired. I will put photos up on the new trip report section I am working on. I predict I am probably going to spend more time on this website than my YouTube channel, but who knows? Once I actually started editing the video, I reached like a very fun flow state. I am really happy with how the video turned out, I hope you all enjoy too. As always, stay safe, and God bless!
See you next week! じゃね!
