Week 13 - 2026年07月12日

おは異様ございます!

Or こにちわ since it’s now the afternoon in California. Excuse the delay, I just finished my last Japanese university hockey game. Would’ve been more bittersweet if I did not come back at 4 AM because I am just cranky now. Complaints aside, I am incredibly happy and grateful for the game. If you had told me I would be studying abroad and playing hockey in Japan two years ago, I would’ve never believed you. Crazy how far this game can take you. Hockey just keeps finding ways to give me more when I’m done. So thankful!

The Mac is gone 🥀. What a brutal main event and week of sports in general.

No clue if the X box is going to load, but click it, and it takes you to the whole tweet.

Waited 5 years for 15 seconds nothing short of disappointing, but if anyone can come back I believe it is the Mac (copium 🥲). Paddy had a crazy submission, hopefully he gets the rematch with Gatehje for the belt. 329 card was so good until the main event, I feel so cheated and sleep-deprived. The sleep-deprivation is partially my fault. I stayed up til 6 to watch the Norway-England game, and then immediately headed off to watch UFC. I wanted to and should have slept earlier, but I saw that vintage McGregor clip of:

So, I immediately did 100 push-ups in my dorm. Spontaneous decision, but worth it because it earned me 100 minutes of doom-scrolling. The screen time got so bad, I am using an app that requires me to exercise to use social media, so my bad if I do not respond, reply, or see things in a timely mater.

My screen time has gotten down though, and I have been more “productive” too. I registered for a Claude course on AI Fluency, and Claude help me launch a web-app called Progressive Hard (Still working on the name). It’s meant to help users start and finish 30 or 75 day hard. It starts with embarrassingly easy tasks, and works you up the ladder to fulfilling your goals. For those reading, let me know how it is, and I will improve on it.

Parlays absolutely sold, but seeing my goats get rinsed was a worse feeling. Ronaldo & Neymar Jr. both gone. This is an end of an era. I have not felt this much shock since Brady retired. Saudade. Saudade is such a beautiful word and using "longing" as its English translation is a disservice. I am happy that both Ronaldo and Neymar Jr. got their final goals though. You just love to see that the goats are not washed before going out. It is crazy though. 2014 Brazil World Cup was 12 years ago, and suddenly, I am closer to graduating from university than I was to elementary school. Nostalgia is one hell of a drug. It’s so funny how we or I was always so eager to grow up, and now I wish to be that innocent again. If I ever could go back, I would just give myself a hug, and let young me know we're going to be alright! I’m still that same kid just a little older, and that's all of us.

The sticky hotness of Kyoto has intensified, so I just have been doom-scrolling letterboxd (put my recent reviews on the home page). I am so hyped for The Odyssey, but it comes out in September for Japan, so I unfortunately cannot hit the cinema or えいがかん next weekend. There's still a lot of films I have not reviewed and watched too. I think I am going to start the Dune series. The trailer for part three looked peak. Chalamet is overrated in my opinion, but he is a master of creative vision and marketing himself. He also spits some bars too:

Hard to fathom a Knicks fan came up with such profound wisdom. I really only have one more week left at Kyoto University. Blinked and suddenly I got one more month before I go back into the pressure cooker. Time flies is more of a reality than a cliche. I will leave all the sentiments for the reflection log at the end of this exchange, but the psychology of time is so intricately profound. I do not even know what that means, but sounded cool and right. I think I mentioned before that I am co-currently taking an intro to psychology course back at my community college asynchronously. This is probably the most interesting and fun GE course I ever took, and I understand why it’s a general education requirement. Before I used to think of these courses and majors as jokes and a waste of time and I could not be more wrong. Taking or studying psychology is a prerequisite to understanding who you are and what will you become. On some Chalamet, Eileen Gu, and Mac mentality, you are more in control than you think, and you can shape yourself to your will. No clue if that made sense, I am rambling, but I dig psychology. I also learned how to treat depression through your own psychotherapy evaluation from this asynch course. Knowing is one thing, but applying is different, and human nature is never consistent or thorough. Essentially you learn how much of a hypocrite you and everyone is. I still do not know what does it mean to have a soul? I will leave that up to God though 🙏.

Unfortunate news, I have to scrap the Kagoshima trip. I was a degenerate trying to book late and it ended up being so costly, so transitioning to USJ next weekend. It sucks terrible timing prevented the legendary link-up reunion. Last year was a fever dream and that’s an unforgettable day. I have hockey to thank for that again.

In what world and timeline would Kaito be driving Kai and I back home in Tokyo. Torpedo really the real MVP of the team. Good times, better people!

I finally booked my China hotels. It was super cheap for 15 days, only $370 after the split, and they are nice ones too. Mama Lee is worried I am staying at sketchy stingy ones, but I guess we will see. I’ll have to make a YouTube video on the adventure. There’s still videos I want to make, but it’s one of those things I can’t get myself to do. Fear. I am a walking juxtaposition, and hopefully I will come around. I appreciate all those read this to the end. This week I am going to try and fix my sleep schedule and circadian rhythm. As always stay safe, and Godspeed!

Here are some photos from this week:

I want to buy a sword so bad. This was a tourist trap store, but free to enter and probably better than the Samurai museum in Kyoto.

Not quite a California sunset, but I do not mind this at all!
